Tomorrow it is December, which I can't quite believe, but that means only one thing: the ski season as most of us know it is almost here. Though it's currently sunny and warm in the Alps, we've finally had a a cold snap and some storms depositing much-needed snow all over the brown and barren mountains we were worried about just two weeks ago.
If you've been thinking about booking an early-season ski trip, now is the perfect time — there are still a few Christmas and New Year bargains knocking about, as well as early season weekends to sharpen up your skills.
This month's newsletter is packed with juicy information from the latest property updates and a round-up of the most enticing base layers for skiing to some advice from our friends at Ski Total on how to get fit to get the best out of your time in the mountains.
Don't forget to keep an eye on our snow reports for the latest weather news, and I'll be back in touch before Christmas to offer our usual book gift ideas and round up of the season so far. In two weeks' time I'll be packing my kit for a trip to Jackson Hole to check out the new lift for the cult resort's 50th anniversary, and Editor Watts is off to Italy's Sud Tirol to enjoy his first ski of the season and a gourmet tour of mountain restaurants in the Alta Badia. We'll be blogging as we go.
